Laser weaponry

Most of us have seen the laser guns in Star Wars. We have to admit that we all wish we had one because they are absolutely amazing. The crazy thing is that we have laser weaponry today! They aren't quite the laser pistols we see in Star Wars but who is to say they can't become that? If we already have laser weapons technology it is sure to expand.

The Air Force uses a laser defense mechanism on their jumbo jets. When a missile is fired at them the laser turrets on the side of the plane shoot down the missiles! How cool is that?! There is also the personnell halting and stimulation response(phasr). This is an actual laser rifle used by the military! Before you get your hopes up it is not actually lethal but merely a weapon meant to disable the target. The lasers are fired into the hostile 's eyes temporarily impairing their vision.

This is crazy to think that we actually have laser weapons technology! Who is to say that in a hundred years we won't have laser weapons? With the rate technology has accelerated I believe it is very plausible.

Time travel

Time travel is something that has fascinated the human race for centuries. We all wish we could go back in time to fix something we screwed up on. Or even go forward to see what the future holds. Unfortunately as scientists have studied there will be no going back to fix our screw ups(I know sucks right). Time travel to the past is so far impossible because of two paradoxes the grandfather and what I call the notebook. The grandfather paradox is the theory that if someone went back in time and killed their grandfather that person would cease to exist. So therefore they couldn't have ever time traveled in the first place!(I know confusing right)The notebook paradox is a theory that if you went back in time with a book and gave the book to your grandfather and he later hands it down to you where did it come from?(I know even more confusing) These paradoxes are the main reasons we have found time travel to the past impossible for now. Time travel to the future however is a different matter entirely.

One theory of time traveling to the future is based on black holes. Black holes have a pull of so much strength that they actually bend space and time. Theoretically, if u were in a black hole for five minutes(assuming you somehow survive) for the person watching you from  a spaceship it could be years for them. This is because black holes bend light, therefore time would also be bent. Another theory is based on wormholes. If space is indeed infinite in size then it is possible for it to have infinite dimensions. The theory is that if we can travel through one dimension through a wormhole it could be like a shortcut to another part of space. Thus through this massive distance you did not age but when you return to earth you will find it aged beyond recognition.

Time travel, in my opinion, is one of the most interesting topics out there. The thought that we may actually be able to time travel(even if it is only the future) is truly revolutionary. I can't wait to see what we can accomplish in my life time.

Iron man

Iron man is one of the most popular super heroes ever created. Billionaire tony stark makes himself a suit of armor and fights against dangerous villains. Can the iron man suit actually be made? From what I have researched I would say the answer is yes.

The iron man suit used power derived from the arc reactor as seen in the comics and movies. The arc reactor is really just a fusion reactor that runs on nuclear power. Nuclear power is used all over the world so we know this component is very plausible. The next is the rocket boots. There is a man known as the bird man who successfully used jet flight to make himself fly! (There is a YouTube video on him that can be found on the source below) Thirdly we have all seen iron man's awesome repulsors. Really to make these all we would have to do is reverse the effects of a tractor beam. Even though our modern tractor beams may not be as good as we would like them to be.

Even though an iron man suit looks like something out of science fiction, it is actually very plausible. The suit may not be as high grade as the one seen in the comics but it would be close for sure.

Light Speed, the Final Frontier

Most Americans have seen the epic sci-fi movie Star Trek. One question that comes to my mind and a lot of people who have seen this movie: how close are we to this light speed technology? No doubt we shouldn't be far off, I mean look at the accomplishments America made in 100 years. We went from the first ever flight to landing on the moon in that 100 year span! So just how close are we to light speed travel?

There is a theory called the Alcubierre Drive, proposed by theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre. The theory states that if we can use negative energy we can in essence bend space around us. If we can bend space then we can travel faster than the speed of light. The only problem being we don't know if this energy exists. This solution was derived from Einsteins field equations. We know that the math works, we just haven't found the energy that can make it happen.

If we can find the negative energy proposed in this theory we can travel at light speed. How long it might be unfortunately can't be answered. It could be ten years or over a hundred that we have to wait for lightspeed travel.
